A Young College Student Takes A Summer Job

Jared Green takes a summer job at Romney Pest Control in Dallas, TX, while attending Brigham Young University. While there, he develops TextRoutes – a sales application for their door-to-door sales team.

Meanwhile, in Maine two pest control owners and a graphic designer work together in a basement office to form PCOCentral Marketing, a digital marketing agency built to meet the unique needs of the pest control industry. The small team engages with Copesan® members to collaborate and share ideas.

PCOCentral Marketing Hires First Employees

PCOCentral Marketing hires its first employees and launches a subscription membership plan. The company moves out of the basement and into their first official office in Somesville, ME.

Jared Green Begins Selling TextRoutes To Other Pest Control Companies

Back in Utah, Jared Green begins selling his TextRoutes app to other pest control companies to assist with their door-to-door sales.  

PCOCentral Marketing continues to grow. They begin the year with 15 clients, hire several new employees, and move into a spiffy new office in Southwest Harbor, ME.

Jared continues to add new features to the TextRoutes application and renames it to SalesRoutes.    

PCOCentral Marketing rebrands to Lobster Marketing Group after repeatedly hearing, “you all have great lobster up there.” Continued growth leads them to open a new office in Southwest Harbor.

Mainsail Partners Acquires PestRoutes And Lobster Marketing Group

PestRoutes and Lobster Marketing Group are acquired by Mainsail Partners, a growth equity firm that invests exclusively in software companies. Under Mainsail, the two companies officially join forces. Lobster Marketing Group becomes the exclusive provider of integrated marketing and web-design services for PestRoutes.   Lobster Marketing Group updates its business model to include scalable, lower cost, tiered options. Their integration with PestRoutes enables their pest control clients to sell services through their websites, manage and promote online customer reviews, and offer customers the ability to pay online.

PestRoutes Expands Services And Reporting

PestRoutes expands into commercial pest control services and adds support for Wood-destroying Pests and Organisms (WDO) reporting for California Branch 3 structural pest control. The company debuts a new logo and branding.  

Lobster Marketing Group launches the Lobster Compass marketing portal, which consolidates key marketing, growth, and ROI metrics from multiple vendors in one place.

Gryphon Investors makes a majority investment in the company, leading to new growth opportunities. William Chaney joins PestRoutes as its new CEO. The company grows to support 1,700 customers.  

Lobster Marketing rebrands and drops “Group” from its name. The team grows to support 300 customers.
